12/06/02 - Clinging, Biting, Chattering
Around the beginning of his 10th month, he's become more clingy. We cannot leave him on the floor or allow someone else to hold him. He's always wanting us to hold him and carry him around. I am afraid we've spoiled him a little bit. Just a little. :)

The two front and bottom teeth have broken through and a few more cutting in. Biting has not been much of a problem than him knawing on furnitures.

He's also started babbling now. He says mama and a-da, a-da and a-ba, a-ba.

Alfie has now perfected the thumb-and-finger princer grasping which makes eating cheerios easier. The bad news is, he finds and picks up the smallest dirt on the floor and puts it in his mouth. The worst part is that we have to sweep to keep the floors clean all the time now. That makes our resting time shorter. :(

This past month has been a really fun month for us. A lot of things have changed dramatically not just with his behavior but also physically. He didn't gain as much height this time as he has in the past but he's gotten longer. He's increased his height from 10th to 30th percentile. He's got a lot more personality now. He smile, giggles and laughs most of the time and has learned a lot of tricks. He waves hi and bye, claps his hands, looks up when you ask where's the light, he puts his hand next to his ear when you ask him to call grandma on the phone, and he knows how to turn the light off. Maybe pretty soon we can train him to get us a cold beverage. Wouldn't that be nice. :)

11/04/02 - Now CRUISING!!!!
He's now cruising, moving around upright while holding on to the sofa. He also takes a few steps with support. He loves pulling our plants, licking our floor, pulling the edges of our carpets. He also loves things that have moving objects such as wheels and things that roll around the floor. He loves playing with balls. He's pushes it and runs after it again.

The newest thing that he's learned is wave bye and clap his hands. We think it's so neat when he started doing these tricks. You can also ask him where the light is and he'll look up and look for lights.

His teeth finally came through. Maybe he'll be walking by next month's update. People warned us about that stage.

09/20/02 - Now CRAWLING!!!!
Fun! Fun! Alfie is now crawling and pulling himself up to a stand while holding onto the sofa and railing of his crib. He now can situp without any support. He's also so much more active. It's not so easy anymore to give him a bath nor change his diaper.

Alfie's emotions are more obvious. He squeals in delight everytime he sees his daddy. He cries when we leave the room. We notice him either being shy or anxious when around strangers.

There's also a sighting of those pearly whites. It hasn't fully come in but it's visible. We have been giving him a little bit of real food (chunks of fruit) but he doesn't like the texture. He loves cheerios and crackers and he now drinks water and juice from a cup. OH! He's growing so fast.

08/16/02 - At Seven Months.........
Our little angel is growing fast. At this time, he can situp on his own with very little support. He now also can get on his hands and knees and he rocks back and forth. I heard that's the sign of trouble. Pretty soon he'll be crawling and getting into stuff. Tom & I safety proofed the house in case one day Alfie decides to crawl.

Alfie is now eating a lot more, he's added pears, creamy spinach (yak!), toasts, crackers and cheerios in his menu. He's still sleeping through the night but wakes up at 7:30 am everyday no matter what time he goes to bed the night before.

07/25/02 - At Six Months.........
He's mastered rolling over. As soon as we put him down, he'll rollover on his tummy and on his back no problem. He had his 6 mos. checkup and unlike the two previous round of shots, he had reaction this time. His left thigh got sore and he had a slight fever. He is still in the 50th percentile in weight but only 10th in height and head circumference. I guess Tom & I can't expect to have a really big baby out of the both of us.

He's still eating his solids (if that's what you call it). He's eating 2-3/day now. He eats rice cereal, squash, carrots, green beans, peas, peaches and just added in his repertoire, wheat toast. He hasn't figured out how to pick up his food and put it in his mouth on his own yet. But he's practicing. I am sure it won't take long before he figures it out.

I guess the biggest milestone this month is TEETHING!!!!!!! This isn't a very pleasant experience so far. Although he's only had one bad morning where he woke up at 5:30am and started screaming. He won't go back to sleep nor let us put him down. But after 3 hours of crying, it finally wore him down then he fell asleep. He has been drooling and biting my fingers and face for two months now. His teeth still hasn't come in. Hope we won't have anymore of this screaming early in the mornings and that his teeth hopefully finally comes in. Although I don't think that is a good idea either 'cuz then it would really hurt when he bites. OUCH!!!

06/10/02 - Rolling Over
Alfie is now 5 months old and he is growing like a typical 5 month old boy (I guess). He is now in the 50th percentile of his age group which is a big progress. He was below 5th percentile when he was 2 weeks old. He still eats his rice cereal and now eats green beans and green peas. We also started giving him some apple juice (which he loves) to get him to go to the bathroom. Solid food makes him constipated and it's not a very nice experience for everybody.

The biggest milestone this month is now he can rollover. He starts from his back and mostly turns to his left and rolls over to his tummy. He can get his arms free but he hates being on his tummy. He hasn't figured out how to roll back the other way yet, so he screams when he's on his tummy, then we turn him on his back again. As soon as we roll him back on his back, he rolls over again on his tummy and screams again. So we roll him back again.

He loves being tickled on his tummy. He grabs my hair (guess who's writing this? "HAIR", get it? :D) and pulls my head for me to tickle his tummy. When I try to get up, he pulls my hair again for me to tickle him. He's such a cutie!

05/10/02 - Today is his 4th month birthday, weighs at least 16 lbs. He can hold his head up pretty well, sits up with support and notices and stares at his hand. After he stares at his hand, it goes straight to his mouth (the WHOLE hand) until he chokes. It's been a few weeks now since he started cooing. Not only he can coo, he now also giggles and squeals in delight.

04/24/02 - Alfie slept through the night for the first time.

Alfie and I visited some friends and stayed out ‘til 9 pm which is past his bedtime. As soon as we got home, Tom and I got him ready for bed and he was sleeping by 9:30pm. When we got up around 6:30 am the next day, we both looked at each other and asked if either one of us got up to feed him. We both said, "NO". Then we realized he had slept through the night. We were so excited. Hopefully, this is the beginning of him sleeping through. We’ll see!
